This is evident in our proactive shift from solvent-based products to water-based alternatives, and introducing Australia's first low VOC paint in the early 1990s.

Dulux UltraAir® is a premium quality paint with fewer chemical emissions to help maintain your indoor air quality. Its ultra-low odour assists in reducing the likelihood of irritating sensitivities such as asthma and allergies. Colours featured: Light Ceramic and Snowy Mountains Half.
Dulux envirO₂™ is certified by Global GreenTag™, one of the most robust, trusted and globally recognised eco-certification programs. This environmental certification is yet another example of Dulux's ongoing commitment to addressing the needs of planet-conscious consumers and customers.

World-class manufacturing facilities
Dulux opened Australia's largest paint factory with the most sophisticated manufacturing technology of any paint factory in the world, featuring 300kW solar power generation, rain harvesting and on-site wastewater management.
Low VOC Paints
Dulux has been at the forefront of low VOC paint innovation. Low VOC paints are lower in volatile organic compounds thereby creating fewer emissions and less odour.
Dulux introduced low VOC products such as Dulux envirO₂™, Wash&Wear® and the Decorama tinter system used to deliver Dulux Colour.
Environmental Product Declaration
Dulux is the first major paint brand in Australia to complete Environmental Product Declarations (EPD). Similar to a nutrition label, an EPD provides a transparent, multi-faceted overview of the environmental performance of a product throughout its life cycle.
From the production and processing of raw materials, to manufacturing, distribution and application, EPDs provide transparent data about the environmental impact of a product, including carbon footprint.
Dulux's EPDs are independently verified and registered with the Australasian and International Environmental Product Declaration websites.
Paintback®
Dulux is a founding member of Paintback®, an industry initiative to divert waste paint and packaging from landfill.
Run by an independent, not-for-profit company (Paintback Limited), the scheme enables the collection and treatment of waste paint and packaging through participating sites around Australia. It is the responsible way for households and professional painters to dispose of left-over paint and packaging.

Project Earth
Dulux is currently working with several large construction companies to recycle used water-based paint drums and pails.
Dulux is then looking at reprocessing these drums into saleable paint sundry items to sell through our Australian network of stores.
