It probably feels like yesterday that you were designing the nursery and now they’re ready for a big kid’s bedroom. We’ve put together our top tips to transform your nursery into a kid’s bedroom. Colour featured: Dulux Cool.
Get the kids involved and work with them to choose a colour that you all like.
If the kids are included in the process you’ll find it much easier to redesign when they hit teenage years and want yet another room switch up.
It might seem appealing, but you should probably avoid decorating rooms with characters, logos or themes that are likely to go out of fashion. You’ll thank us later!
Pick out a colour scheme together. You can even give them a pre-picked colour palette to help them choose.
For warmer hues, you could try blush pinks, lavenders, or corals. Navy blues and khakis will help you in your cooler toned spaces.
If you’re looking for a softer aesthetic - wheats, soft oranges, or greys create a calming sense of ease that’ll never get old.
Not every wall needs to be repainted to give the space a refresh. A feature wall is a great way to add a bit of colour and personality to the room.
When choosing your feature wall colour, think about your space as a whole and find the best focal point.
Tip: Avoid choosing a wall with windows that give the room natural light - these two focal points may clash.
If you’re feeling adventurous, add a subtle arch mural to bring your space to life!
When redesigning, don’t forget about how the rest of your home looks too.
If you are looking to transform the entire colour of the bedroom, look at colours and tones that will work well with the rest of the house.
Often neutral blues, pinks and greens work well to present a playful yet calming zone. But if you’re looking for a safe option, go for your whites, neutrals and greys.
